11+ Saturday Morning Groups

Content

We run 11+ classes from 9am-12pm on a Saturday to focus on:

  • CEM

  • Verbal Reasoning (including GL)

  • Non Verbal Reasoning, where necessary

  • Challenging worded maths problems

  • English Comprehension and Writing

  • Regular Timed Papers, including past papers from the most popular grammar schools

We are aware that 1.5 hour classes are not always long enough to cover as much material as is necessary for students targeting the 11+ exams. We recommend these Saturday morning groups to students that wish to supplement their other regular classes with the most challenging maths and English papers, as well as CEM style papers and Verbal Reasoning.

This 3 hour session will also provide the opportunity to sit regular timed papers under exam conditions and then analyse them in one session. Students will become more comfortable working under time pressure and we will be able to track their progress quantitatively.

Please note that, as this class is intended to supplement other learning, we will not be covering all of CEM, VR, English and maths every week; each lesson will be focused where we deem the students' weaknesses to be. However, over the course of a half term, we will work on all of the above.

Group Sizes

  • Two classes will run simultaneously, with students allocated to a group based on ability, which will be assessed upon enrolment

  • 2-6 pupils per group

Pricing

  • Each 9am-12pm session costs £45 per student.

Feedback

  • We invite parents of year 5 students to attend an introductory meeting in September. This is an opportunity to discuss grammar and private school entrance exams, as well as Saturday morning sessions.

  • Individual termly progress reports will be provided, evaluating each student's scores in timed papers, areas of strength and areas that must be improved through work both in class and at home.

  • There are many practice books available for 11plus level. We are happy to discuss these options with parents and recommend the most suitable ones for each student. Although we will not go through these workbooks in class, they are good tools for independent work at home, targeted at an appropriate level.
